If you or your group would like to hear stories of America’s Women of the West, contact Jayne Peace Pyle at 928-474-0380, or email jaynepeace@hotmail.com.
To this day most of the stories of the West are written about men. Woman "as a pioneer” is still pictured standing beside her rougher, stronger companion – man. That is fine, but there are many untold stories about the courageous women who helped settle the West – some without the help of men – some in spite of their men. Jayne Peace Pyle, the progeny of many Arizona pioneers, can tell the stories and can sing many of the old songs that were passed down to her.
Jayne is not a feminist; she just likes to keep alive the stories and songs of the women.
| Some of her stories include the following: 1) Lillias Goodfellow 2) Lennie Menges 3) Lou Neal Pieper 4) Mae Heron Lazear 5) Josephine Bean Harer 6) Apache Women 7) Margaret “Aunt Babe” Holder 8) Elizabeth St. John If there are certain women you want to hear about, ask Jayne! Jayne also sings some of the old songs that have been handed down to her. They include, but are not limited to: 1) Wildwood Flower Jayne and Jinx sing several songs together |
